24th March

I woke up at the first drop of the rain.(when you have abundant of sleep you will automatically wake up when it is time to). Popped the cinnamon roll into the microwave oven and made myself a cup of milo. and brush my teeth.

Switched on the TV to CNA. Normally there would be like some interesting documentary, but nah. Switched to channel 5 and there's Ellen. Even though I have watched the same show last evening, Ellen just never fails to make me laugh.

The feeling of having breakfast while watching TV with the rains outside was so serene, except for the fact that the house was in a mess.(my brother is also on his vacation and he's turned noctrunal).

I have been looking for a full-time job, to save up some money from the ample time i have. But at that moment, I was glad that I was'nt working full-time.

Book Review

I have read this book for quite sometimes (like months), because I like it so much I just want to share it with everyone (and a good start for an entry). It is just so hilarious, with all the witty lines and it was written in the form of a personal recount which makes it much more interesting. It teaches us to appreciate the simplicity of life.

The book is about workaholic attorney Samantha Sweeting whose goal to become the firm’s partner. Her personal life is non-existence due to her work, but she just wouldn’t admit it. As it is titled, she knows nothing about domestic affair.

Her reaction when her assistant asks about the vacuum bags on behalf of her house cleaner..

“Not that Joanne,” Maggie interrupts. “Joanne your new cleaner. She wants to know where you keep your vacuum-cleaner bags.”
I look at her blankly. “My what?”
“Vacuum-cleaner bags,” repeats Maggie patiently. “She can’t find them.”
“Why does the vacuum cleaner need to go in a bag?” I say puzzled. “Is she taking it somewhere?”
Maggie peers at me as though she thinks I must be joking. “The bags that go inside your vacuum cleaner,” she says carefully. “To collect the dust? Do you have any of those?”

Her TO DO List for her personal life…

I should really cross off some of the early entries, it occurs to me. I mean the original list dates from when I first moved into my flat, 3 years ago. I must have done some of this stuff by now. I pick up a pen and squint at the first faded entries.

1. Find milkman
2. Food delivery – organize?
3. How switch on oven?
.
.
16. Sort out milkman
17. Have friends over?
18. Take up hobby??
.
.
41. Go on holiday?
42. Give dinner party?
43. MILKMAN??

She was so close in gaining partnership when she made a huge mistake which costs ₤50 million.

With a twist of fate she ended up becoming a housekeeper – the stay-in maid-cum-cook type – and she didn’t even know how to set up the ironing board. There she met her gardener boyfriend who has a degree for what he did, or at least related. As days went by she started to like what she was doing, its simplicity. She’s just contented to have a weekend off, for she never had one. The story ends with her choice between partnership and her plain housekeeper life.
Do read this book. Right now I'm looking forward to read "Confession of a Shopaholic" (same writter) before the movie comes out.
